The early pre-parish organization was a mission outreach from nearby Saint James Parish of Gadsden. In 1959, the Diocese of Birmingham created Saint William Parish, and a sanctuary was erected on the present site in the center of Guntersville. An expansion project, The Foley Center, dedicated in May of 2018 includes a parish center, classrooms, commercial kitchen and much-needed storage.
