Tails and Ales of Guntersville is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. The mission of Tails and Ales of Guntersville (TAG) is to reduce the euthanasia rate within our local community shelters, provide compassionate care, including basic medical treatments, to the animals housed within local shelters, while coordinating efforts to secure live release outcomes. TAG regularly funds adoption fees for long-term residents and contributes to the funding of heartworm treatment for the shelter dogs. TAG also provides community assistance and outreach to alleviate the suffering of domesticated animals. We have coordinated with the City of Guntersville to provide a low income spay and neuter program which is currently being offered to city residents.
Our primary focus is the Guntersville city shelter. We work tirelessly to promote each animal for direct adoption or rescue transfer. We visit the shelter weekly to provide care, enrichment, assess behaviors and create bios for each animal. We also provide fostering and transportation to rescue partners. This work is done with the purpose to save lives and prevent euthanasia. Since we started our coordination efforts with the city shelter in 2021, the live release rate has been maintained at or above 95%.
